The producer-director of Perlberg-Seaton, surpassing their brilliant triumphs of 'The Country Girl' and 'The Bridges at Toko-Ri'!"; "The most intimate story to come out of the war... this is the way it really was in the South Pacific!"; "based on a Novel by Lucy Herndon Crockett") starring William Holden, Deborah Kerr, Thelma Ritter, Dewey Martin, and William Redfield NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release Australian daybill! Note that this is one of an amazing collection of 62 linenbacked Australian daybills that all have great art from Richardson Studio (or John Richardson, before he became "Richardson Studio"!), which many collectors feel have the best art and design of any Australian daybills, and are highly sought after by collectors. These were accumulated by a very dedicated collector over many years, and they are now being all offered at once (in 62 separate auctions), so this is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one or many of these daybills, many of which rarely are offered for sale or at auction. Also note that, while this poster was printed in Australia, it was specifically made to be used in New Zealand. This was not an uncommon practice and we have seen many examples. These posters often lack the printed rating which can be found on the Australian version of the poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had some light stains scattered in the top center, in Kerr's cheek and neck and in the lower left of the title. It had a tear and small paper loss in the right border to the right of Holden's hand. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
