eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3w103 LOT OF 12 SCREEN GUIDE 1944 MAGAZINES '44 filled with great movie images & information! Date Sold 12/31/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 12 issues of Screen Guide, one of the many movie magazines sold to the public. Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many color and black and white images throughout. I have looked through many issues of this magazine, and it strikes me that this one was far more risque than the other magazines of this period, often containing stories of a naughty or sexual nature, and with more provocative images of female stars of the day! Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, some in color and some in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Note that this magazine was first published in May of 1936, and that for the first year, it had some color scattered throughout. After that first year, it went to only black & white, but on a better quality paper stock. Note that beginning with the September 1948 issue, the magazine's title changed to "Screen and Television Guide", because of the increasing popularity of TV, but that only lasted a while and then the title reverted back to "Screen Guide". Note that the items in this lot are from the Screen Guide, one of the many movie magazines sold to the public.
