Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked "Other Company" One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Zane Grey's Forlorn River, the 1937 Charles Barton cowboy western ("Thrill-Packed romance of the West!"; based on the Zane Grey novel) starring Buster Crabbe (billed as "Larry Crabbe"), June Martel, John Patterson, Harvey Stephens, Chester Conklin, Lew Kelly, Syd Saylor, and William Duncan NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this was printed by the "other company". This was a company in the Midwest that in the late 1930s and early 1940s printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets for major studio movies (mostly Warner Brothers and MGM, but also some other studios). The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They never have the name of the releasing studio on the poster or any of the lobby cards. Sometimes, "other company" posters or lobby cards have sold for more than the regular studio release posters or lobby cards! Also note that this poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: very good. The poster had an extra vertical fold 1/2" to the right of the regular one. The poster was tattered down the center, but otherwise the poster was in pretty nice condition. The defects in the vertical foldline were repaired during linenbackin. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
