An Original Vintage Theatrical Promotional Movie Brochure/Poster (measures 7 3/4" x 10 1/2" [20 x 27 cm]; 4 pages, opens into a 15 1/2" x 21" poster) (Learn More) Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, the classic 1964 Stanley Kubrick (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English Cold War anti-war fantasy satire ("The hot-line suspense comedy"; "EXPLODES with atomic laughter!"; "America and London acclaim Peter Sellers in the first comedy of the Nuclear Age!"; "Peter Sellers.. In 3 hilarious roles!"; "Based on the book 'Red Alert' by Peter George"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Peter Sellers (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; playing three roles: President Merkin Muffley, Group Captain Lionel Mandrake, and the title role of Dr. Strangelove), George C. Scott (as General Buck Turgidson), Sterling Hayden (as Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper), Keenan Wynn (as Colonel Bat Guano), Slim Pickens (as Major T.J. King Kong; Sellers had originally been cast in this role but trouble with the Texas accent and a broken ankle caused Kubrick to recast), Tracy Reed (billed as "Introducing Tracy Reed as 'Miss Foreign Affairs'"), and Peter Bull (as the Russian Ambassador) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this promo brochure has a Columbia return address area in the top left corner when it is fully folded, with an unusual "Oh DR." design below it (which we have never seen before). Obviously, the blank area to the right of that was designed for the address of the theaters that this brochure would be mailed to (the reverse of that area is blank). When you open the brochure the first time, you see an area that says "How those stories grow and grow about Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove", along with clippings from newspapers, especially a review about Sellers from the New York Times magazine. Finally, when you completely open the brochure, it folds out into a 15 1/2" x 21" poster-like image, which has newspaper reviews cut into the letters "DR", with "WOW! what publicity!" above and below it, and "from COLUMBIA!" in the period after the "R" (see our images for all of the above). Obviously, this was some initial campaign idea that Columbia had for this movie, but we have NEVER seen any of it used anywhere else, so we wonder if Kubrick didn't hate the whole "Oh DR." idea and get them to change it! WE HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BROCHURE BEFORE! Condition: very good. There are faint smudges in the left and right of the address area and on the reverse blank side. The other parts of the brochure are in pretty nice condition (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
