Date Sold 2/6/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 1944 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Pardon Us, the 1931 James Parrott escaped convicts screwball crime comedy ("The world has been waiting for Their First Full Length Talking Picture!"; "They made their first mistake when they tried to sell liquor to a policeman!"; with dialogue written by H.M. Walker, and produced by Hal Roach) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy; in their first full length talking picture), June Marlowe, Wilfred Lucas, Walter Long, James Finlayson, and Otto Fries. Note that this movie was a feature-length parody of the previous year's box office hit, "The Big House"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this a very rare complete set of lobby cards for the re-release of this movie (we have only auctioned one complete set of cards for this title in all of our years of auctioning and that was in 2010!) Note also that it is unclear exactly when these lobby cards are from. Film Classics began in the early 1940s, and distributed mostly re-releases of classic titles in the 1940s, but the exact starting date is unknown. In 1947, Film Classics distributed movies through NSS, and those lobby cards have NSS information on them. These cards do NOT have NSS information, which likely means that they are from before 1947, which was before Film Classics titles were distributed through NSS, and I have been told that these cards are from 1944 which is the most likely case, so we are saying they are from 1944. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The title card has a few very faint tape stains at left and right (the original tape not put there for any restoration purpose) and some smudges at left of the image and to a lesser extent at right. The rare complete set is otherwise in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind!
