An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Niagara, the 1953 Henry Hathaway marital problems romantic melodrama ("Marilyn Monroe and 'Niagara' a raging torrent of emotion that even nature can't control!"; "Marilyn Monroe and Niagara, the high water mark in suspense"; set at the famous Niagara Falls waterfall in New York state and Canada; about two couples visiting the famous landmark, one on their honeymoon, and the other in a very disturbing relationship, which leads to a death, which may be murder) starring Marilyn Monroe, Joseph Cotten, Jean Peters, Casey Adams, Denis O'Dea, Richard Allan, Don Wilson, Lurene Tuttle, Russell Collins, and Will Wright. Note that Marilyn Monroe was given the lead in this movie, but she was not yet a major star. Her performance in this film, and the iconic gigantic image of her laying atop the famous waterfall with the water running over her body helped her career massively! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline and across the top foldline. There was an extra horizontal fold 1/2" above the regular bottom foldline. There were many pinholes, creases, tiny tears, and some tiny paper loss around the edges of the poster. The poster was linenbacked many years ago, and it did not have the best of restoration. If I owned this poster, I would have it re-linenbacked by a top professional. After proper linenbacking, it would look great! Learn More about condition grades
