An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Stock Movie Poster (measures 11 1/4" x 14 3/4") (Learn More) a circa 1940s Belgian stock poster for Laurel & Hardy movies! The poster features great different headshot artwork of the comedy duo, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Belgian theaters would display this poster when they would show Laurel & Hardy movies (sometimes writing in the title of the specific movie being shown at the bottom of the poster). Note that Laurel & Hardy movies were very popular in the 1930s and 1940s, in the U.S. and abroad. In Belgium, there was a paper shortage during the 1940s and 1950s, and so they sometimes printed up stock posters for the most popular stars and teams, including Laurel & Hardy, to be used by theaters showing any of their movies, thus conserving on paper. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for use by theaters showing their 1930s Laurel & Hardy movies in Belgium. Theaters would order this poster, which had a blank area at bottom. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Condition: fine. The poster was never folded. It was in quite nice condition prior to linenbacking, and it was well backed, and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
