An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Sergeant Madden, the 1939 Josef von Sternberg family relationship crime crooked cop romantic melodrama ("Beery's back in 'Big House' thrills!"; a wild story of an Irish cop whose dream is to have his adopted son become a cop too; but after his son joins the force, he gets in big trouble and is sent to Sing Sing, and escapes, and the father resigns in disgrace, but when the son kills some people his father lures him into a trap, and the son is killed by police) starring Wallace Beery (in the title role as Sergeant Madden), Tom Brown, Alan Curtis, Laraine Day (in her 5th role, her first where she is billed as "Laraine Johnson"), and Fay Holden. Note that this was a very unusual extremely downbeat movie, something that MGM rarely did. No doubt this was because it was directed by Josef von Sternberg, but one suspects that he was at odds with the studio and wanted to make an even bleaker movie than what ended up on the screen! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There are some pinholes and a few tiny scuffs around the edges, with some tiny dot stains in the top right edge of the image (they are mostly only noticeable when the card is tilted to the light).
