An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Ellen Burstyn is an actress from the 1960s to the 2000s. She was 32 when she made her very first movie, and had one of the absolute slowest roads to stardom of anybody! She started as a dancer and model in the early 1950s, and she appeared on Broadway in 1957, but then only had TV roles until 1964. But it wasn't until 1971 when she was cast in The Last Picture Show (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film) that she finally had success, and she quickly followed it with The Exorcist (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) in 1973, and Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Alice) in 1974. But oddly, as fast as success came to her, it also left her pretty quickly, and from the 1980s on, she has had limited success, although she has given some great performances, including in Resurrection (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Requiem For A Dream (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). As of 2021, she is still alive at the age of 88! Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Ellen Burstyn! Note that our consignor purchased a collection of autographed stills that were collected by Leonard Sorgi, who was a unit manager for ABC for shows like The Soupy Sales Show, The Jerry Mahony Show, and many others. He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him). Our consignor (and we) feel certain that the autograph on this still is authentic! Also note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
