An Original Vintage One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More) Melody, the 1953 Ward Kimball & Charles A. Nichols Walt Disney 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) family animated cartoon musical short ("First of the 'Adventures in Music series'"; "The screens first animated cartoon in 3-Dimension"). Note that this was the first cartoon ever filmed in 3D! There were two one-sheets created for this film. Both had the same image but used a different tagline for the 2D and 3D versions. This cartoon was the first in the planned "Adventures in Music" series and was followed by "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" which won the 1954 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). However, perhaps because "Melody" came near the end of the 3D craze or because the shorts were animated using a "limited animation" technique that some fans and critics disliked, no other shorts were made for the series.
