An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 44 1/4" x 58 1/4" [112 x 148 cm]) (Learn More) Il Bidone (released in the U.S. in 1962 as "The Swindle"), the 1955 Federico Fellini Italian/French family relationship con man crime melodrama (about an aging con man who meets his grown daughter, and decides to try to make a lot of money with newly met crooks, so that he can provide for her education, but when he cuts out his partners and gives all the money to his daughter, he is brutally beaten) starring Broderick Crawford, Giulietta Masina, Richard Basehart, Franco Fabrizi, and Sue Ellen Blake. Note that this movie was made in Italy in 1955 and was released all over Europe over the next few years, but it did not receive a U.S. release at all, likely because of the very depressing nature of the movie. However, after Fellini's great success with "La Dolce Vita" in 1960, this movie was given a U.S. release in 1962. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and very minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
