A 1953 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Suspicion, the 1941 Alfred Hitchcock crime film noir mystery thriller ("Each time they kissed... There was the thrill of love... The threat of murder!"; "She won your heart in 'Rebecca'! He drew your cheers in 'Philadelphia Story'. Thrill to them together in a suspense-romance directed by the man who did 'Rebecca'"; "Screen play by Samson Raphaelson, Joan Harrison, Alma Reville [Hitchcock's wife]"; "Based on the novel 'Before the Fact' by Francis Iles"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nigel Bruce, Dame May Whitty, Lumsden Hare, Vernon Downing, and Auriol Lee. Note that there is controversy about the ending of this movie! Many people say that Hitchcock intended the movie to end with Grant killing Fontaine, and that the studio insisted that he change it (to preserve Grant's positive public image), but others say that this is an urban legend, and that the movie was always intended to end the way it did! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this 1953 re-release is at least as difficult to obtain as that from the original 1941 release. This one-sheet has a great completely different full-color image from that of the original! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster had tiny holes at the crossfolds and a very few separations on foldlines. Someone took the poster and taped a small piece of paper on the back of each crossfold, and then put clear tape over every foldline (likely for reinforcement). They used a pen or colored pencil to touch up the tiny holes at the crossfolds, and they put some tape on the back of three of the blank corners. The tape has VERY slightly bled through to the front in a few places, but it is truly slight. I would think many people could display this poster just as it is, and enjoy it, but certainly any talented restorer could remove the tape from the back, perform touch up to the very slight areas of bleed through, and after proper linenbacking, this poster would look great and it would not require a lot of paint restoration! Of course, this poster will be sent rolled in a tube, as the tape on the back of all the foldlines prevents it from being re-folded. Learn More about condition grades
