An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) In the Days of Buffalo Bill, the 1922 Edward Laemmle silent historical cowboy western serial ("Universal's amazing chapter play"; apparently this was quite an epic, because it showed the end of the Civil War, the assassination of Lincoln, and the driving of the golden spike of the Transcontinental Railroad!) starring Art Acord ("and the greatest cast ever assembled"), Duke R. Lee (in the title role as Buffalo Bill F. Cody), George A. Williams, Dorothy Woods, and Jay Morley. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that director Edward Laemmle has been largely forgotten by film history, but he has a VERY interesting biography! He is the nephew of Carl Laemmle, who persuaded him to leave his electrical engineering career in 1915 and join him at his recently opened Universal Studios. He started as an assistant director, mainly under John Ford. In 1917, he went to New Guinea to produce a movie about the natives there, and was shipwrecked, and spent two years among the Kia Kia cannibals! This adventure was re-created in the movie "Shipwrecked Among Cannibals", which became the first million dollar movie for Universal Studios. Edward Laemmle went on to direct roughly 50 movies, and had many famous assistants, including William Wyler! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned three examples of this title card, and one of those examples has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of three examples we have ever auctioned! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. Someone made a 5" razor cut in the bottom left of the image and also two others in other parts of the image (perhaps they were intending to insert something in the card). There were also two tears in the borders. Someone put brown paper tape on the back of those areas. Because the cuts were razor cuts, they are not very noticeable, and otherwise, the card is in nice condition, and displays well (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
