An Original Vintage Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More) Fast Company, the 1929 A. Edward Sutherland & Edwin H. Knopf New York Yankees baseball sports country-boy-comes-to-the-big-city-and-wins-the-World-Series screwball comedy ("Come along! We're on our way for a big laugh") starring Evelyn Brent, Jack Oakie, Richard 'Skeets' Gallagher, Sam Hardy, and Arthur Housman. Note that this movie was based on the George M. Cohan and Ring Lardner play, "Elmer the Great", with Jack Oakie in the lead role. But apparently, the producers of the movie were afraid that audiences would be turned off by the baseball connection, and did not mention it at all on their advertising! Just four years later, the play was again made into a movie, but this time under the original title, and with Joe E.
