An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #3 ("Man Hunt") One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) King of the Texas Rangers, the 1941 John English & William Witney cowboy western adventure serial ("A Republic Serial in 12 Chapters") starring Sammy Baugh (billed as "'Slingin' Sammy Baugh"; "The Football Sensation"; in the title role as Ranger Tom King, Jr.), Neil Hamilton, Pauline Moore, Duncan Renaldo, Kermit Maynard, Roy Barcroft, Rudolph Anders, and Kenne Duncan. Slingin' Sammy Baugh (born Samuel Adrian Baugh) was a famous professional football sports player was a Texas college star quarterback at TCU University. In 1937, he signed with the Washington Redskins and became a star there. Interestingly, he played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals the next year, but he remained with the Redskins. In 1941, he was signed by Republic Pictures to star in this movie, where he was billed as "The Football Sensation". The movie was a huge success, and Republic wanted him to make more movies, but Sammy much preferred playing pro football to acting in movies, and he retired, except for a minor appearance in 1948's "Triple Threat", where he played a "Professional Football Player". This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had separation, tears, and tiny paper loss in the top 1/4 of the vertical foldline and across the top fold. There was minor wear on the other foldlines and some minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well. Learn More about condition grades
