An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #4 (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Ace in the Hole (also released as "The Big Carnival"), the classic 1951 Billy Wilder crime newspaper journalism film noir ("Written by Billy Wilder, Lesser Samuels and Walter Newman"; about a washed-up newspaperman who finds a man trapped in a cave-in and delays his rescue to get a better story!) starring Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling, Robert Arthur (billed as "Bob Arthur"), Porter Hall, Frank Cady, and Richard Benedict. Most people believe that this movie was first released under the title "Ace in the Hole", but that when it was not very well received, the studio quickly created all new paper with the new title "The Big Carnival" (perhaps to confuse people as to the subject matter of the movie). Most collectors treat the movie paper with either title as "first release", but some collectors consider the material with "Ace in the Hole" to be less common, and therefore more desirable! Important Added Info: Note that the card has a very minor printing defect, which is a series of faint light red and blue lines down the left edge of the left blank border. This was a very minor printing defect that occurred during the printing of these cards, and it is found on many 1950s and early 1960s lobby cards, and few collectors consider it much of a defect at all, because it is in the left edge of the blank border, has no effect on the image, and would likely be on all examples of this lobby card. Condition: very good. It appears the lobby card was once sniped with the alternate title of "The Big Carnival", because there is some odd residue in the area between the top of the title and the bottom of the image (but it really is not very noticeable or distracting). There are some faint smudges around the edges of the card. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card!
