If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned four examples of this first release one-sheet, and only one example in the last 21 years, and that example sold for $3,450! The movie had a quick re-release in 1952, which likely helps account for why the first release posters are so rare. Our consignor purchased this poster from Christie's in New York in 2004, and he has now consigned this rare poster to us. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold. It had a partial extra vertical fold 1/4" to the left of the regular one, with some creases between those two vertical folds. It had just a few tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds and pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Many years ago, it was backed onto linen with slight excess. It was slightly roughly handled, and it acquired an uneven 7" crease in the top, extending down through the top and bottom of the "e" of "Her". This is not very distracting, and one could certainly frame and enjoy this rare poster as it is, or one could choose to have it re-backed. Either way, the new owner will have a great poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
