eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5f637 LAW OF THE TONG LC '31 Salvation Army worker in San Francisco Chinatown, cool border art! Date Sold 5/26/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (11x14; LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Law of the Tong, the 1931 Lewis D. Collins San Francisco California Salvation Army Chinatown romantic crime melodrama starring Phyllis Barrington, Jason Robards Sr., John Harron, Dot Farley, and Mary Carr. Note that star Phyllis Barrington is a Salvation Army worker who gets involved with a Tong leader, and also note that the Tong gangsters are presented as far more sympathetic than the American ones, unusual in a 1931 movie. Also note that Mary Carr became a major star in the mid 1910s around the age of 40, playing the parts of saintly mothers. She continued to make movies (switching to grandmother roles) through the mid 1930s, and then continued with mostly uncredited parts until the mid 1950s. She passed away in 1973 at the age of 99! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair to good. There are some transparent scattered glue stains throughout the image, including some in the stars' faces (it is not very noticeable, except when the card is tilted to the light). There are several tears in the left border, a tear in the middle right of the card 1" from the right border, and many pinholes around the edges. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! Learn More about condition grades
