Date Sold 7/12/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) When Love is Young, the 1937 Hal Mohr romantic musical ("The NEW Universal Presents"; "Here these song hits! When Love is Young, Did Anyone Ever Tell You?"; "The Glamorous 'Jack O' Lantern' Scene"; "From the McCall Magazine Story 'Class Prophecy' by Eleanore Griffin"; about a small town girl who dreams of being a star, but everyone laughs at her; she becomes a major Broadway star and returns to her college to laugh at her detractors) starring Virginia Bruce, Kent Taylor, Walter Brennan, Jean Rogers, Jack Smart, Franklin Pangborn, Sterling Holloway, Greta Meyer, Christian Rub, William Tannen, Lydia Westman, and David Oliver. Note that the one-sheet poster for this movie shows beautiful Virginia Bruce in a ball gown with a top hat and veil, and she is standing next to a scarecrow, and there is a tagline that says "The Glamorous 'Jack O' Lantern' Scene". But we can find no reference to this scene anywhere, so we ask that anyone who has seen the movie, or has read about it, to e-mail us and explain exactly what this scene was (judging from the poster, it looks like a fantasy sequence where the scarecrow comes to life, because it looks like a real man is in make up, but that is just a guess!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. The slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides. When we auction slides that have a cardboard holder, we provide a separate image of how the cardboard holder looks, but when we auction slides with the black tape (like this one) we only provide the scan of the glass slide image, because that really is about all there is to see.
