An Autographed Album Page (measures 4 1/2" x 6") (Learn More) J. Edgar Hoover was first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from the 1930s to the 1970s. Hoover is credited with creating the FBI as it is today and instituting technology such as a centralized fingerprint database and forensic methods and laboratories. Because he was appointed for life, he became a very controversial figure in the 1960s, when he began using the FBI to compile secret files on people he deemed enemies of the U.S.! After he passed away in 1972 at the age of 77, many changes were made to the FBI so that it was not independent of the rest of the government. Important Added Info: This page has been personally autographed (signed) by J. Edgar Hoover. The page is not dated in any way, but it is clearly vintage and our best guess would be the 1940s, but we could be off by some number of years. The album page could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that our consignor has been a memorabilia dealer for the past 30 years, and he tells us that he is certain this autograph is authentic. He says that he will give the new purchaser 30 days to be certain (perhaps they might want to get it authenticated), and that if the new buyer has any doubts, they can return this item within 30 days (but after 30 days, his warranty will expire, and at that point, the item will no longer be returnable). Condition: very good to fine. The page was removed from an autograph book but is otherwise in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
