An Undated (probably 1980s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Yugoslavian Movie Poster (measures 19 1/2" x 27 1/2" [50 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Triple Trouble, the 1918 Charles Chaplin silent comedy compilation short starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin), Edna Purviance, Leo White, Billy Armstrong, and James T. Kelley. Note that this film was made in 1918, after Chaplin had left Essanay. Since he was their biggest star, they were in financial trouble without him, and they made this movie by using outtakes from two of their Charles Chaplin movies, Work (1915) and Police (1916), and they also used footage from a film that was called "Life", which had started filming, but was never released. These "compilation" films may have helped Essanay somewhat, but later that year, they joined in a four-way merger with other ailing early studios, Vitagraph, Lubin, Selig.
