An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Countess of Monte Cristo, the 1934 Karl Freund Vienna Austria romantic movie-making mistaken identity crime comedy (about an Austrian actress who is making a movie where she plays the "Countess of Monte Cristo", but she is criticized for her poor acting, and she walks off the set in costume, and goes to a hotel, and they see her fancy clothes and suitcase that says "Countess of Monte Cristo", and they think she is a real countess, and she is given a great suite, but she gets mixed up with a major thief, posing as a "Baron"!) starring Fay Wray, Paul Lukas, Patsy Kelly, Paul Page, and Carmel Myers NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a 3" tear near the middle of the poster solely in the yellow background that has clear tape on the back. It has a 2" tear near the middle of the top border, with many creases and scuffs by it, and there is a small piece of tape on the back of that tear. The bottom right corner was detached and reattached with clear tape from the back. There are pinholes, smudges, and tears around the edges and a few creases and smudges scattered in the image, with pinholes in the bottom center of the image, mostly in the yellow background, but also in Wray's finger. There is a semi-circular tear in the center of the bottom border. In spite of all of the above minor defects, the poster displays well, and certainly, it could be professionally restored if the new owner preferred, and it would not require much restoration anywhere in the image.
