An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Gay Love, the 1934 Leslie Hiscott English romantic musical comedy starring Sophie Tucker, Florence Desmond, Sydney Fairbrother, Enid Stamp-Taylor, and Ivor McLaren. Note that Sophie Tucker happened to be in England (for a Command Performance for King George V and Queen Mary!) in 1934, and she was asked to appear in this English movie. She performed four songs (all racy, and ones that would never have been allowed in U.S. movies at that time), and the producers widely recognized that she was the greatest draw of the movie, and so she was prominently pictured on the posters! Sophie Tucker's greatest fame had come a couple of decades earlier (she was a cross between Mae West and Fanny Brice, and she was heavyset and homely, but she made fun of herself, and the audiences loved her!). One of her hits was called "Nobody Loves a Fat Girl, But Oh How a Fat Girl Can Love". Her nickname was "The Last of the Red Hot Mamas". Of course, the title of this movie is one that would never be chosen for such a movie in the present day, because the meaning of that phrase has changed so drastically over the years! The one offered here is one of those three, which we have now been re-consigned, and it is the best condition of the three! Condition: very good to fine. The poster has the tiniest of separation at the crossfolds, and someone put a small piece of tape on the back of each.
