An Original 1964 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55") (Learn More) The Terror (released in France in 1991 as "The Haunting"), the 1963 Roger Corman AIP horror thriller ("'Dracula'... 'Frankenstein'... 'House of Wax'... 'Pit and the Pendulum' and now... The Terror"; "'Dracula... Frankenstein... House of Wax... Pit and the Pendulum'... and now a new classic of horror comes to the screen!"; "A new classic of horror comes to the screen!"; "No one will be admitted while the coffin is being opened!"; "From the depths of an evil mind came a diabolical plan of torture... inconceivable... unbelievable!"; "Who is The Terror?"; "No one will be admitted while the coffin is being opened!") starring Boris Karloff, Jack Nicholson (very young and second billed in this role!), Sandra Knight (Nicholson's wife at the time), Dick Miller, and Dorothy Neumann NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Renato Casaro Important Added Info: While this poster has a great image, it is clearly incorrect! The only two movies that Karloff and Nicholson made together were "The Raven" and "The Terror", and Sandra Knight was in the second, and not in the first, and yet the poster also has Edgar Allan Poe's name on the top, and a large raven! But if it is from The Raven, why no mention of Vincent Price or Peter Lorre, and who are those two people at the end of the credits (who are not in either movie)? Since both movies came out in 1963, it sounds like the poster artist may have been working from promo materials for both movies, or something just got very mixed up (perhaps intentionally) somewhere! Since the poster does use the Italian title for "The Terror" we are listing it as such but we cannot be 100% certain! But it is certainly a great poster no matter what. The poster had creases, tears, and areas of paper loss on parts of some foldlines and some minor wear in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but at some point after it was backed, it was roughly handled, and there is now a series of creases scattered down the left 12" of the poster, both in the image and the linen. They are mostly scuffs and tiny surface paper loss scattered every few inches vertically down that area. There are also a couple of similar defects in the lower right of the image. The defects are noticeable, but not terribly distracting. I don't know whether restoration could be performed without re-backing the poster, so bear that in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
