An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) When Worlds Collide, the classic 1951 Rudolph Mate science fiction (sci-fi) doomsday fantasy thriller ("Spectacle never before filmed!"; "Most amazing story that science or fiction ever imagined!"; "Planets Destroy Earth!"; "Giant planet collides with earth!"; "Enormous earthquakes swallow whole continents!"; "Tidal waves flood entire countries!"; "Space ship leaves earth!"; "Based on the famous novel by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie"; produced by George Pal, who did the excellent special effects; a highly literate screenplay by Sydney Boehm; this is the sort of movie that proved that science fiction movies did not have to be silly to be critically acclaimed or popular with the public; it is a pity more movies did not follow this wonderful movie's formula!) starring Barbara Rush, Richard Derr, Peter Hanson, John Hoyt, Larry Keating, Frank Cady, and Stephen Chase NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been graded and authenticated by mpgrading.com. This means that a separate 8 1/2" x 11" paper comes with the poster, and that it has been "encrypted with a unique 9-digit serial number with invisible DNA-laced ink" which has been hidden somewhere in an unobtrusive portion of the poster. On the certificate, the poster has been given a grade of "very fine - (8) - RG", but of course, that grading scale is not the same as ours (see below). Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most insert posters were folded twice horizontally right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most insert posters, especially from before 1970! Condition: very good. The poster had a 1" tear in the lower right border and small paper loss in the lower left border (in both cases in the blank white area only). There were some small tears and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster with a tape stain on the back of the bottom of the left border. There was a pair of staple holes in the top center of the poster and a few smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in "very good" condition. The poster was "starch backed", which means that it was moistened with a special starch solution, attached to a backing, allowed to dry, and then the poster had touch up while it was backed, and afterward, the backing was removed. The poster looks fantastic, and it has had truly minor touch up within the image, and best of all, it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored poster! Learn More about condition grades
