An Original Vintage Autographed 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] Television Still (Learn More) Buddy Ebsen (born Christian Ludolf Ebsen Jr.) was an actor from the 1930s to the 1990s. He is best remembered as Jed Clampett from TV's "The Beverly Hillbillies", and he had a second major TV success with TV's "Barnaby Jones". In the 1930s, he was a song and dance man (first with his sister, Vilma, and then solo), and he was originally cast as the Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz". Before filming, he agreed to change places with Ray Bolger, and he became the Tin Man, but the silver paint from the make up on his face gave him an extreme allergic reaction, and he had to withdraw from the movie! He is also remembered for playing Davy Crockett's sidekick George Russel in "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier". He passed away in 2003 at the age of 95. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Buddy Ebsen! Also note that this still measures 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
