An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Winning of Barbara Worth, the 1926 Henry King silent pioneer romantic melodrama ("Adapted by Frances Marion from the novel by Harold Bell Wright"; "The Book Thrilled Millions! The Picture will Enthrall Millions More"; "From the famous novel - by Harold Bell Wright"; about a man who dreams of irrigating the western desert so people can live there, and he has an adopted daughter and a handsome young man, who is the lead guy's right hand man, and he builds a dam that is intended to irrigate the desert, but it may break and flood the valley) starring Ronald Colman, Vilma Banky (in the title role as Barbara Worth), Charles Lane, Paul McAllister, E.J. Ratcliffe, Gary Cooper (in his first credited role; an important early role as the young man who has been Colman's right hand man for many years), and Clyde Cook. Note that Gary Cooper received sixth billing, and he is not billed or pictured on any of the posters, although he is pictured on some of the lobby cards. We got the order of billing from the program book, where is he solely billed and not pictured at all.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that Gary Cooper had appeared in around a dozen movies prior to this, but those were all uncredited parts. In this movie he was third billed, and he really stood out, and he quickly became a star! Unfortunately, the movie paper focused entirely on Ronald Colman and Vilma Banky, and they were the only ones billed on the posters and the lobby cards, and, to the best of our knowledge, Cooper was not pictured on any of the posters or the title card. Because scene lobby cards are so rare (we have only previously auctioned one example of this scene, and that card has now been reconsigned to us), we don't know how many scenes Cooper might have appeared in, but we know that he is in this scene, and he is with his top two co-stars! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. There is tiny paper loss in the top left blank corner, with some stains, tiny tears, and tiny bits of surface paper loss in the left blank border. There are pinholes in the corners, with a few other tiny stains and smudges around the edges, and a pinhole in the bottom center of the inset image. There is a small piece of clear tape on the back of each bottom corner. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this card.
