An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Dick Shawn (born Richard Schleufand) was a stand-up comedian and actor from the 1950s to the 1980s. He almost never entered show business at all, because he was a top baseball player in high school, and right after he graduated, he was signed by the Chicago White Sox to a contract. But he got drafted and while in the military, he discovered USO shows, and became a performer, and when he got out, he became a stand-up comedian! He is likely best remembered for his role as L.S.D. (Lorenzo St. Dubois, who becomes the lead "Hitler") in The Producers and for his co-starring role in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. He passed away in 1987 at the age of 63.
