Date Sold 10/31/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1945 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) One Frightened Night, the 1935 Christy Cabanne family relationship inheritance mistaken identity murder mystery horror comedy ("Mascots mirthful mystery"; "With this superb cast"; a wacky story of an old man who decides to give away a million dollars each to friends, because he has no relatives, but at a dinner where he is announcing this, his long lost granddaughter shows up, but then a second woman shows up claiming to be the granddaughter as well, and then the "first" one is found murdered, but after much confusion and attempted murders, everything is sorted out) starring Charley Grapewin, Lucien Littlefield, Mary Carlisle, Regis Toomey, Arthur Hohl, and Hedda Hopper NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this card is undated and has a Mascot studio logo, but it is not from the 1935 first release of this movie. The one-sheet that matches this lobby card has "A RE-RELEASE" printed on it, and looking up the litho number from that poster, we determined it is certainly from the 1945 re-release of the movie, and we believe this lobby card also is from that 1945 re-release (but it is also possible that it is from the 1935 first release, but we are calling it a re-release to be on the safe side). Interestingly, Mascot closed in 1935 when it and several other studios merged to become Republic, but the posters were not updated to mention Republic studio. A knowledgeable collector tells us that Republic would often use the first release printing plates to create the re-release posters, which is why this lobby card still mentions Mascot. We have NEVER before auctioned ANY lobby cards from any release of this movie, and no other posters other than two examples of the 1945 re-release one-sheet! Perhaps this movie, being one of the last Mascot movies, received very limited distribution in 1935, which would account for the extreme rarity of movie paper from it. Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is in excellent condition and is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
