An Original Vintage Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 39 1/4" [62 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Mers-les-Bains, the 1936 French travel poster advertising for travel and tourism (including the beach, casino, and tennis) of Mers-les-Bains, a small French commune in Northern France. This poster was sponsored by Chemin de Fer du Nord, the French Northern Railway. This poster also features great artwork of a fishing ship in the foreground of a resort on the beach by Geo Dorival. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Geo Dorival Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It had some water staining in parts of the borders and scattered across the bottom 5". There was scuffing down the right side of the bottom writing area and some tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed on to a very thin linen, and no restoration was performed. If I owned this poster, I would surely have it removed from the thin linen, and backed by a talented professional. After the touch up of the defects described above, the poster will look fantastic!
