An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #4 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, the classic 1948 H.C. Potter home remodeling architecture living-in-the-city-vs-living-in-the-country comedy ("The nuttiest birds live in this house!"; "Cary's burnin', he's afraid his dream house den will have a built-in wolf"; "Myrna's yearnin' for a dream house with all modern conveniences including two men"; "Melvyn's turnin', He's a 'good friend' in wolf's clothing."; "Looks like the Blandings will have no heating problem."; about a family building their own home and the disasters that befall them) starring Cary Grant (in the title role as "Mr. Blandings"), Myrna Loy ("Mrs. Blandings"), Melvyn Douglas ("and good [?] friend"), Reginald Denny, Sharyn Moffett, Connie Marshall, Louise Beavers, Ian Wolfe, and Will Wright. Perhaps RKO was afraid that this movie would not find an audience (just being about a couple building their own house), so they made posters that presented it like it was a romantic love triangle, and even referred to Melvyn Douglas as "a good friend in wolf's clothing", when actually, there was no triangle at all! They needn't have worried, because the movie was very clever and proved to be very successful! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card has a piece of paper tape on the back of the top and right borders. It had tiny staple holes around the edges. Most important, it has a pinhole in Grant's chin and in the background next to it, with scuff marks in Loy's mouth, extending at a diagonal down to the right of the title. Someone performed slight touch up to the pinholes by Grant's chin, but did not address the other defects. From a reasonable viewing distance, they are not very distracting, but from close up, the marks in Loy's mouth, cheek, and neck are much more noticeable. One could certainly display this great card as it is, or one might choose to have additional restoration performed. Either way, bear all of the above in mind before bidding on this very desirable card. Learn More about condition grades
