Note that in 1949, when this prophetic novel was first written, and in 1956, when this first movie adaptation was made, it seemed the height of fantasy that people would have devices in their home where the public could see and hear everything they did. In today's world, that has come to be true, and most surprisingly, it is the public that have brought those devices into their home, in the form of their phones and computers!
