An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 156 pages) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, the 1951 Alfred Hitchcock railroad train murder crime film noir ("You'll be in the grip of love's strangest trip!"; "It's off the beaten track!"; "It begins with the shriek of a train whistle and ends with shrieking excitement! Young America's idol - a good looking stranger in search of sensation - and a girl in love. These are the people around whom Alfred Hitchcock spins his wonderful new web of suspense and surprise. Warner Bros. bring you a pounding new tempo to motion picture entertainment."; "It starts with the shriek of a train whistle... and ends with shrieking excitement!"; "Warner Bros. Now bring a pounding new temp to screen entertainment!"; "Screen Play by Raymond Chandler and Czenzi Ormonde"; based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith; about a man who meets a somewhat unbalanced man on a train, and they fantasize about how each has a person that makes their life miserable, and the unbalanced man says that they could each kill the other's problem, and would never get caught!) starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, Robert Walker, Leo G. Carroll, Patricia Hitchcock, Kasey Rogers, and Marion Lorne NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is a Warner Bros. story library copy of the final draft from October 18, 1950 and the screenplay was written by Raymond Chandler and Czenzi Ormonde. The first interior page has "PART I" on it, but this is definitely NOT just part I of the script, because on the bottom of page 55, it says "PART II TO FOLLOW", and then the rest of the script, which is larger than part I, contains both "PART II", as well as "PART III" (which begins after page 100, which has "PART III TO FOLLOW" on the bottom of it). On the first page of part III is a mimeographed form that is like the one on the first interior page (see below), but again, it was not used. This is the complete script from the movie, stamped "FINAL" on the cover. IMPORTANT! We originally listed this script as being from 1950, but after consulting with several experts, it is certain that it is not a script from 1950, but rather a copy of that script that was kept in the Warner Bros. story library. The script is undated, so we can't know exactly when it was made, but it is likely in the 1950s or early 1960s. Please do not bid on this script unless you can live with the uncertainty as to when this Warner Bros. story library script was created, and do not bid on this script thinking it is an original from 1950, as it is not! UPDATED 8/10/2010: Note that an expert on this movie tells us that this script was in no part written by Raymond Chandler, EVEN THOUGH HIS NAME APPEARS ON THE TITLE PAGE! He explains that Hitchcock threw out Chandler's script entirely, and that this different script was used in the movie (he tells us that Chandler's version still exists). Condition: very good to fine. The script is in quite nice condition. The first interior page has a form at the bottom of it. In the original script that was intended to be signed by the person receiving the script and it had perforations in the bottom one-third of that page, BUT BECAUSE THIS IS A WARNER BROS. STORY LIBRARY SCRIPT, IT IS A PHOTOCOPIED PAGE THAT DOES NOT HAVE ACTUAL PERFORATIONS! Learn More about condition grades
