An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Sydney Greenstreet was an English stage and movie actor from the 1900s to the 1940s. He first acted on the English stage in 1902 in "Sherlock Holmes" (in a supporting role as a murderer), and he appeared in plays from then until the 1930s, mostly with Lunt and Fontanne in the Theatre Guild. In 1941, he made his film debut at the age of 62 (weighing around 300 pounds) in The Maltese Falcon (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film) and the following year, he appeared in Casablanca (as Signor Ferrari). He appeared in 23 other Warner Bros. movies through 1949 at which point he retired, and he passed away in 1954 at the age of 74. Important Added Info: Note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still. Condition: very good. The top 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
