eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4x476 MARY PICKFORD signed 7.5x9.5 still 1920s looking uncomfortable with Masons in the sand! Date Sold 3/24/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Autographed 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" [19 x 24 cm] Still (Learn More) Mary Pickford was a Canadian actress from the 1900s to the 1930s. She was one of the top silent actresses, who specialized in playing young girl roles as an adult, and she was called "America's Sweetheart", and when she married Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. in 1920, the country rejoiced (and the country mourned when they divorced in 1936!). Some of her movies include: Little Annie Rooney (in the title role), Sparrows, My Best Girl, Coquette (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role), and Tess of the Storm Country. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Mary Pickford (she wrote "Greetings to the Masons of California"; she is standing in sand with three Masons, and one of them has put his hat on her, and she is holding a figure of a camel, and two of the Masons are holding a camel and an elephant, and we don't have the faintest clue what is going on, but she sure looks like someone roped her into doing something she didn't want to do! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" [19 x 24 cm]. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. It appears that this was a regular photo that was dry-mounted to a heavy board, but it was done very well. Also, the still originally measured bigger than it currently is, and likely bigger than 8" x 10", because it appears Miss Pickford wrote "California", and perhaps two inches of the end of that word is cut off. But other than that missing end of the word, the still is in nice condition, and will look great on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
