A Great Novel... A Great Motion Picture"; "Ladd as man of violence and mystery vs. women of wealth and Beauty!"; "From the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and the play by Owen Davis") starring Alan Ladd (in the title role as Jay Gatsby), Betty Field (as Daisy Buchanan), Macdonald Carey (as Nick Carraway), Ruth Hussey (as Jordan Baker), Barry Sullivan (as Tom Buchanan), Howard Da Silva, Shelley Winters, and Ed Begley. Note that F. Scott Fitzgerald's legendary novel was first adapted as a movie in 1926 (the novel was published in 1925). This 1949 remake was not very faithful to the novel, and was not very successful at the box office, and neither was the 1974 remake starring Robert Redford (to be fair, it would be very difficult for a movie to be faithful to the book and succeed at the box office). The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds, with tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of most folds, with pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
