An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Sphinx, the 1933 Phil Rosen mistaken identity romantic love triangle murder mystery crime thriller (about a rich deaf mute man who is always around when people are found murdered, and some people claim to have heard him talking, but the police test his hearing by firing guns and making loud sounds near him, and he always passes; at the end of the movie it is revealed that he CAN talk and hear, but that he has a deaf mute twin brother, who takes his place when it is necessary!) starring Lionel Atwill (as twin brothers), Sheila Terry, Theodore Newton ("Courtesy of Warner Bros."), Paul Hurst, Lucien Prival, and Robert Ellis. Note that the title of this movie refers to the old expression about someone being "as unmoving as a Sphinx", which is how the deaf mute man in the movie reacts to loud sounds. But the designer of the lobby cards either didn't know this or didn't care, and they put artwork of the actual Sphinx and the pyramids in the border of the lobby cards!

Important Added Info: Note that original 1933 movie paper from this early Monogram mystery crime thriller is beyond rare! We have never seen even one item of any sort from not only the first release, but from ANY release of this movie!

Condition: good to very good. There are two tack holes in the woman's image at center and there are some tack holes and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the card. There is a 1" tear in the middle of the left edge of the card. There is a small piece of tape on the back of the middle of the left and right edges of the card but it does not appear to be there for any restoration purpose.
