An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 12 1/2" x 27 1/2") (Learn More) Smultronstallet (released in the U.S. in 1959 as "Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries"), the classic 1957 Ingmar Bergman Swedish reflections-on-the-meaning-of-life family relationship melodrama (about a successful elderly doctor and his troubled relationship with his adult son, who is also a doctor, and his extended family, and he looks back over his long life, and he has disturbing dreams about his first romance and about his impending death) starring Victor Sjostrom, Bibi Andersson, Gunnar Bjornstrand, Ingrid Thulin, Folke Sundquist, Bjorn Bjelvenstam, Naima Wifstrand, and Jullen Kindahl. Note that Sjostrom was a major Swedish director starting in 1912 and in 1920 was hired by MGM where he had great success. He mostly quit directing with the advent of sound, but he became a mentor to Ingmar Bergman, and he took the lead role in this movie, and was incredible in it! Note that this is a rare country of origin poster from this Swedish classic! Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). very good. The poster has multiple horizontal folds. There were creases, smudges, and pinholes in the borders. The above defects were minimized during restoration, and are only noticeable on close inspection.
