It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that most Star Wars collectors are well aware that larger posters were made for this classic movie, and they have likely seen images of the three-sheet and six-sheet (over the years, we have auctioned 26 three-sheets and 5 six-sheets). However, many collectors are not aware that an even larger poster, called a "7-sheet" (seven sheet), which measures 81 1/2" x 91 3/4", was also created! It was made in two styles, one with the "style A" image, and the other with a "teaser" image that is all text. The reason most collectors would not be aware of these was because they were likely only used in Los Angeles and New York. We checked with one of the world's foremost Star Wars experts, Pete Vilmur, and he says that he thinks "that less than ten of each of these 7-sheets exist", surely making them among the most rare Star Wars posters there are (likely only the "triple-bill" one-sheets, where only two of each were made, and the 24-sheet, are more rare than the 7-sheets). Offered here is the extremely rare "style A" 7-sheet (we will also be auctioning the teaser style 7-sheet in a different part of this March Major Auction, because that is unbacked, while this poster is linenbacked). Finally, note that because we do not have a wall large enough in which we could take an image of this poster at one time, we took two pictures of it and "joined them together" digitally. The area of the join is around 2 feet from the top of the poster, which is visible in our digital image. But we assure you that there is no such line on the poster, and that it is in wonderful condition! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster had the most minor of wear (it was almost certainly never used). Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! As noted above, this is one of the most rare Star Wars posters there is, and was likely only used in Los Angeles and New York. This example was almost certainly one that never made it to a wall, because had that happened, it would never have come down (which also helps explain why so few of these exist). We hope this poster sells to someone who will put it on public display, preferably in a very large setting, where people can see it as it was originally intended, on a high wall from a distance away!
