Cinesound Review ("The Voice of Australia") was one of two major Australian newsreels from 1931 to 1970. The newsreels are generally between one and five segments each, with some extended editions up to 10 minutes in length. They were generally shown alongside feature films from Cinesound Productions, and were an important source of news and current affairs, forming an integral part of the cinema program. The newsreel did not contain a single imported news item and proudly labelled itself as 'the voice of the nation'. The company had a constant rivalry with Movietone News until 1970 when the two companies merged.

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Australian poster (or any poster related to this newsreel)! It would surely seem to date from the 1940s, possibly 1946, although it could be from during World War II. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: fair to good. There is light ink transfer scattered throughout the poster and a number of other defects. Obviously, this incredibly rare poster can be "rescued" by a talented restorer, but bear this in mind before bidding.
