An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 36 1/2" [69 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Abismos de Pasion (literally translates to "Abyss of Passion"), the 1954 Luis Bunuel Mexican doomed-romance romantic love triangle melodrama starring Irasema Dilian (as Catalina, the substitute Catherine), Jorge Mistral (as Alexjandro, the substitute Heathcliff), Lilia Prado, Ernesto Alonso, Francisco Reiguera, Hortensia Santovena, Jaime Gonzalez Quinones, and Luis Aceves Castaneda. Note that director Luis Bunuel took the basic plot of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights", and transferred it to Mexico, and gave the characters Mexican names, but otherwise, he pretty much followed the book! Artist: Juan Antonio Vargas Ocampo Important Added Info: Note that Distribuidora Mexicana de Peliculas was a company that co-produced films and also distributed them within the Mexican territory. Mexican movies were distributed abroad by other companies, like Columbia Pictures (which not only promoted Mexican films in the United States, but worldwide except in Mexico). This particular poster was for a Columbia release that could have been during roughly the same time period or slightly later, but we are not certain. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie! Condition: good. The poster has some creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges This Mexican poster is somewhat fragile. Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
