A 1948 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Seven Sinners, the 1940 Tay Garnett South Seas U.S. Navy romantic love triangle gambling adventure comedy (based on an original story by Ladislas Fodor and Laslo Vadnai; about a cabaret singer who is kicked off of one South Pacific island, and arrives at another one with a U.S. Navy base, and she attracts the love of a Navy Lieutenant and a local mobster) starring Marlene Dietrich, John Wayne, Albert Dekker, Broderick Crawford, Mischa Auer, Billy Gilbert, Anna Lee, Samuel S. Hinds, Oscar Homolka, Reginald Denny, Vince Barnett, and Richard Carle NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). fair to good. There was a large area of paper loss at the top center of the poster. It is mostly in the blank border (and it is approximately 7" wide), but it extends into the top of Wayne's hair and the hat of the man next to Wayne. There was paper loss at the middle crossfold and 3" below it in the "VE" of "SEVEN" and also in the bottom crossfold. There were some tears and areas of paper loss on the foldlines and around the edges of the poster. The poster was nicely restored, and while you can see some signs of the restoration even from a distance, it is really not very distracting. But please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its significant restoration! Learn More about condition grades
