An Original Vintage Hardcover German Campaign Book (measures 12 1/2" x 13" [32 x 33 cm]; 155 pages). Also included is a booklet that has 8 pages (see below). (Learn More) Tobis 1939-40, the 1939 German hardcover campaign book featuring artwork and information about upcoming Tobis productions. Since most of the top German actors and directors had left Germany because of the Nazis, the book focuses heavily on the few top people who had not left, especially Emil Jannings and Thea Von Harbou. Some of the movies advertised include Robert Koch, Der Letzte Appell, Tiefland, and more. Note that this was likely one of the very last German campaign books that were elaborate, and full size, in hardcover. Soon after this, the massive paper shortages that hit Germany caused future campaign books (from all studios) to become paperback and smaller in size, and often just sepia! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this German campaign book! It comes with an 8-page booklet (devoted to the upcoming movies of Hans Albers) that is clearly a supplement, and is the same size as the hardcover book. We don't know if it was distributed with the hardcover book or more likely, after it, because they probably signed him after the hardcover was printed, and either way, it is an excellent addition!
