An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Charles Boyer was a French actor from the 1920s to the 1990s. He was a college graduate with a philosophy degree, and he appeared in a few movies in his early 20s. He had greater success in talking movies, thanks to his distinctive French accent (which Chuck Jones "borrowed" for his character Pepe Le Pew), but he had his greatest success in Hollywood in the early 1940s, when many of the top U.S. stars were away in World War II. Some of his movies include: Gaslight (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Algiers (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), All This and Heaven Too, Conquest (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Fanny (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Love Affair. He was married to actress Pat Paterson for 44 years! Boyer passed away in 1978 at the age of 78. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Charles Boyer! It has a stamp for the photographer, Alexander Paal" on the back, plus another stamp stating that "THESE Pictures are taken for the Conde Nast Publications, Vogue and Glamour Magazines. For Private use only!". Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm]. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. The still was neatly trimmed to 7" x 9" and it has some rippling scattered throughout, with some light staining on the back of the borders. In spite of these defects, it will display well on the new owner's wall (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
