An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More)

She, the classic 1935 Irving Pichel & Lansing C. Holden lost civilization adventure fantasy melodrama ("Millions have called it 'the strangest love story ever written or dreamed of'... the story of a woman who bath in fire and learned the secret of continued youth. So wicked that a kingdom quailed before her... so human that one touch of loved transformed her! Centuries of self desire burning in her shining eyes... and she found her first love at this very hour!"; "A wonder of stagecraft!"; "Merian C. Cooper creator of 'King Kong' startles the world again!"; "Captured by savages. The human sacrifice. The hall of kings"; "H. Rider Haggard's amazing character comes thrillingly to life in one of the most gigantic spectacle dramas ever filmed!"; "Merian C. Cooper's astounding romantic spectacle from H. Rider Haggard's weird and wondrous 'SHE'"; "Mistress of the secret of eternal youth, she used her power over men!"; "Millions have called it 'the strangest love story ever written' ...Henry Rider Haggard's weird and wondrous romance of a woman incredible... cast on the background of scenes unbelievable!"; "See it as the most gigantic spectacle drama ever produced...!"; "From H. Rider Haggard's Great Novel"; "Portrayed by a cast of 5,000 including") starring Helen Gahagan ("Young and beautiful for 500 years...and wicked every one of them!"; in the title role as She), Randolph Scott, Helen Mack, Nigel Bruce, Ray 'Crash' Corrigan, "and a cast of thousands!". Note that this is the only movie Broadway actress Helen Gahagan made. Afterwards, she married actor Melvyn Dougas, becoming Helen Gahagan Douglas, and later became a two-term member of the House of Representatives. She ran for Senator against Richard Nixon, but lost, but she did get even with him by frequently using his nickname, "Tricky Dick"!

Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and it now measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: fair. The card was found in the back of a frame where it had been used as a backing board for a picture (many framers in the 1930s would use window cards for this purpose, and they would trim them to the size of the frame, not caring that they were cutting into the image!). In this case, the trimming, which was to 12" x 16", affects the right and top of the card, and you can see what is left by looking at our image (we don't know exactly what is missing, because we have never auctioned this ultra rare window card, and we can't find an indication that ANYONE has ever auctioned one!). Since the entire title remains and many of the credits (and a substantial portion of the image), I would think many people could display this card as is, but please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this significant defect. In addition to the trimming, there is a tear near the middle of the right and bottom borders and the card has darkened somewhat with some faint creases and scuffs.
