An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) Coney Island, the 1943 Walter Lang Brooklyn New York City romantic love triangle musical comedy ("Sizzling... spectacle-songs-romance in the swellest musical ever!!"; set in the famous New York City Brooklyn summer amusement park and beach, which is currently being renovated and will return to its former glory!; about best friends who work at a nightclub, and about the beautiful dancer who comes between them) starring Betty Grable, George Montgomery, Cesar Romero, Charles Winninger, Phil Silvers, and Paul Hurst. Note that Betty Grable obviously really loved this movie because she remade it just seven years later as Wabash Avenue! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. We used our best information to date this poster, but we can't always guarantee that the Italian posters we sell are not from an unmarked re-release, but this will only prove to be true in a very tiny number of cases. Also note that this Italian two-panel poster was printed in 2 sections (designed to overlap) and when combined, the poster measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The entire poster had darkened somewhat, more so around most of the borders. There was tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and many creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss scattered down the middle vertical fold, with an uneven amount of those defects on the other foldlines. There was a small area at the bottom left that read "in TECHNICOLOR", and apparently someone at the distributor felt that it was not prominent enough, and they created a snipe that read the same thing, only much larger, and glued it over that area. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. The restorer left alone the snipe in the bottom left and it is slightly "lifting" on one edge of the snipe (any restorer could easily re-glue that area without re-backing the poster).
