An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 37" [69 x 94 cm]) (Learn More)

Corazon Bandolero (released in the U.S. as "The Heart of a Bandit"), the 1934 Raphael J. Sevilla Mexican romantic crime melodrama (about a freedom fighter who falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy man who wants the girl to marry an imperialist officer) starring Juan Jose Martinez Casado (billed as "J.J. Martinez Casado"), Victoria Blanco, Joaquin Busquets, Domingo Soler, Julio Villarreal, Guillermo Calles, Carmen Strabeau, and Luisa Obregon
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Mexican poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie! It is a super early Mexican poster from 1934, and oddly, it gives the name and address of the U.S. distributor in the lower left, but under it clearly says "PRINTED IN MEXICO", so it is surely a Mexican poster (although, perhaps, technically an export poster, although we have never seen any other poster from this title to compare it to)!

Note that this linenbacked Mexican poster (and 98 others, which we are auctioning in 99 separate auctions) comes from a remarkable collection of Mexican posters which was assembled over many decades! We auctioned the first 81 of these in our August 2023 Major Auction, and those included many great rarities, and they sold for as much as $2,505, but there were also a number of great bargains that sold for well under the cost of linenbacking alone! NOW, we are auctioning an additional 99 posters from this amazing collection, which again includes many great rarities, including 22 Mexican posters with art by Ernesto Garcia Cabral! There will again be the chance for great buys in these honest no reserve auctions, and many of these posters may not be offered again for many years, if ever!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkening, small tears, and tiny paper loss in the bottom quarter of the vertical fold and in the right half of the bottom fold, and a lesser amount on the other folds. It had some darkening in the borders and on the folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
