An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Merle Oberon was an Indian-born English actress from the 1920s to the 1970s. She was officially born to Welsh and Sri Lankan parents, though her biological father's never been identified, and she was raised thinking her mother was her sister, as she was only 12 years older than Merle! She lived in India until she was 17, when she moved to London. She is probably best remembered for her role as Cathy in Wuthering Heights. Some of her other movies include: The Dark Angel (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorce of Lady X, These Three, and The Private Life of Henry VIII. Merle passed away in 1979 at the age of 68. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Merle Oberon! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm]. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
