An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 39 1/2") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a retired jewel thief living on the Riviera, and there is a string of daring jewel robberies, so naturally, he is the lead suspect, and he decides to find the true thief himself, and he is aided by a beautiful rich young woman and her mother!) starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli. Note that Cary Grant had announced his retirement from movies in 1953, but he was lured out of retirement by Hitchcock to make this one. Also note that Jessie Royce Landis, who had played Grant's mother in "North by Northwest", this time played his potential mother-in-law, and yet, she was only eight years older than Grant, who had aged very well! The poster had an oval area of paper loss to the left of Kelly's nose and beneath her eye (entirely in the edge of her cheek area). There was some minor wear on the foldlines. There were some creases scattered through the poster and some pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was fairly well backed, but you can see slight signs of the restoration of the paper loss in Kelly's cheek (if I owned this great poster, I would have a restorer perform additional restoration to that area, either with or without re-backing the poster). Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
