An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Advance One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Scarface, the classic 1983 Brian De Palma cocaine drugs organized crime gangster biography ("In the spring of 1980, the port at Mariel Harbor was opened, and thousands set sail for the United States. They came in search of the American Dream. One of them found it on the sun-washed avenues of Miami... Wealth, power and passion beyond his wildest dreams. He was Tony Montana. The world will remember him by another name... Scarface."; "He loved the American Dream. With a vengeance."; "The book will shock you."; "The movie will blow you away."; screenplay by Oliver Stone; a very loose re-make of the 1932 Paul Muni classic, updated to modern day Miami from 1920s Chicago, with cocaine replacing alcohol; with music by Giorgio Moroder and screenplay by Oliver Stone) starring Al Pacino ("Say hello to my little friend!"; in the title role as Tony 'Scarface' Montana), Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, (in her fifth movie role!) Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robert Loggia, F. Murray Abraham, and Paul Shenar

Important Added Info: Note that there were two different advance posters made for this movie. It had its New York premiere on December 1, 1983, to qualify for the Oscars (it also played in a few other cities the following week), and the first advance has "Coming in December to a Theatre Near You." at the bottom of the poster. We suspect that there was doubt about whether that premiere would take place in November or December (perhaps they were thinking they could make Thanksgiving weekend), because a second advance was issued with a black background and a close up of Al Pacino, and that one has "Coming soon from Universal Pictures" at the bottom. Afterwards, the "regular" one-sheet was released, and that one looked the same as the first advance, but without the tagline, of course. We have noticed a massive rarity difference between the first advance (the December one) and the second advance. We have auctioned around five times as many of the second advance as we have of the first advance, and many times more regular one-sheets than advances. This poster is the "December" advance, the one which is far more rare than the other advance or the regular one-sheet.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It had a large number of creases scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Linenbacking the poster has lessened how noticeable the many creases are, but they are still quite noticeable, so please bear this in mind before bidding on this poster.
